Celebrate BBQ Month With These Veteran-Owned Businesses
By Adam Braatz
In April, the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce observed "Restaurant, Food, & Retail Month." May is National Barbeque Month. Here we sit, smack dab in limbo between food-based festivities.
What better way to celebrate both occasions than by featuring our favorite Wisconsin-based veteran-owned BBQ outfits? Many Wisconsinites (including yours truly) grill year 'round, snow and freezing temps be damned. That aside, nothing signifies the arrival of Spring quite like the smell of grills firing up throughout the neighborhood.
Welcome Spring with open arms by taking your BBQ game to the next level:
Saz's hospitality group has some of the best food in Wisconsin. Fine dining, catering, heck, they even have a travelling drive thru fish fry. Don't take our word for it -- their list of awards is about a mile long. You can even purchase their signature sauces online to enjoy at home. Give the Sassy BBQ Sauce a shot. You won't regret it.
Chef Mitch Maier brings the flavor with his unique, award-winning series of black garlic sauces. Learn more by watching this video:
Chef Maier also has an extensive collection of recipes on his website that are worth checking out!
In addition to having tasty BBQ, Explorium has some of the best beer in town. Enjoy a Cream City Crusher while hanging out on one of their heated outdoor hang spaces. Now in two locations: Greendale and Downtown Milwaukee!
There you have it. Celebrate National BBQ Month this May by filling your pantry and refrigerators with veteran-owned spices, rubs, sauces, and beer!
