Supplier Diversity: A Corporate Perspective

We all agree that supplier diversity initiatives are important for a variety of reasons.  After attending this informative session, you’ll see why these leading corporations are committed to fulfilling their corporate responsibility with a supplier diversity initiative that includes veteran-owned businesses.

Each panelist will describe how their supplier diversity program operates; how they source vendors, what certifications are recognized, and how RFPs are sent out. Throughout this discussion, you’ll hear specific examples of small businesses that were able to win contracts, grow and succeed through supply chain diversity.

Lastly, we’ll open the floor to questions. Our experts are here to help you grow and improve your supplier diversity initiative.  Your corporation doesn’t have a specific diversity program yet?? Come learn from the best and bring additional layers of success to your corporation.

Panelists:

Refilwe Goll CPSM MBA, Senior Category Manager at Northwestern Mutual

Refilwe Goll has been with Northwestern Mutual for almost 3 years and has dual responsibilities as a Sr. Category Manager IT Services & Supplier Diversity Program Manager. Prior to joining NM, she worked at Rockwell Automation & Johnson Controls in similar a sourcing capacity.

Originally from South Africa, Refilwe has been in the USA for 12 years. She is the mother of 3 girls aged 16, 14 and 9.  She loves traveling, running & playing tennis.

 

Daryl Hodnett, Director-Supplier Diversity & Inclusion at AdvocateAurora Health

D.M. (Daryl) Hodnett currently serves as System Director- Supplier Diversity and Inclusion for Advocate Aurora Health (AAH). He is chartered with integrating and growing a supplier diversity effort for the newly combined health system.

D.M. was named a recipient of the NAMC-WI Golden Shovel Award, for work in developing minority contractors in Wisconsin. He represents AdvocateAurora Health on the Near West Side Board, serving as an Officer of the Board. He also represents AAH on Premier’s National Supplier Diversity Committee. And, is currently Chairman of the Illinois Hospital Association Supplier Diversity Task Force.

Prior to Advocate Aurora Health, Mr. Hodnett was Director-Supplier Diversity at The University of Missouri System, and reengineered the supplier diversity program.  Mr. Hodnett spent most of his career at The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G); he is credited with creating the firm’s business case for supplier diversity.

Mr. Hodnett attended the University of Cincinnati majoring in business administration. He currently resides in Cincinnati, OH, and in Milwaukee, WI with wife Regina, and two sons.

 

Herb Miller, Sr. Manager Supplier Diversity and Business Development at Michels Corporation

Herb has been with Michels Corporation since 2005.  In Herb’s current role as Senior Manager Michels Corporation Supplier Diversity Program Manager, he is responsible for appraising all new and current disadvantaged business suppliers and the ongoing development of Michels Corporation Mentoring Program.  

 

 

Herb is also a Board Member with the Green Bay Packers Community Service Mentor – Protégé Program, and the North Central Minority Supplier Development Council Board of Director and Executive Board Member of the Wisconsin Procurement Institute (WPI).   

Prior to Michels, Herb’s diverse background includes west coast general manager for another large utility contractor and various field operations positions that had him traveling all over the world, he has been working in construction since 1971. Herb attended University of Kentucky and Cuyahoga Community College studying Civil Engineering.

Herb and his wife Denise have twin daughter’s that live in Japan and the State of Washington and two grandsons. He loves fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
